MATERNITY   |   NEWBORN   |   FAMILIES   |   WEDDINGS   |   BUSINESS

When is the best time to do a maternity shoot?
I would say as a rule of thumb, around 7 months is a good time, as your bump will be quite pronounced at this stage but you should still be feeling fairly comfortable and mobile! Having said that, it is different for every woman and I have photographed both earlier and as late as the day before delivery.

When should I book?
Two to four weeks notice is usually fine for a weekday session but weekend sessions tend to get booked up quite quickly so for these I would recommend that you book a few months in advance.

Where can we do the session?
Again this is up to you. Many clients choose to have maternity sessions at home and if the weather is not ideal this is a good option. Parks, anywhere out and about in the city work really well too. Let me know if you have a location that is special to you and I will try to incorporate it into our session if I can.

Do you photograph in black and white or colour?

I do a mixture and love both for different reasons.

How many images should we expect?

I usually present my clients with about 50 images to view after a pregnancy session.

What areas do you cover?
I cover Central London, North London, West London, as well as parts of Hertfordshire, Middlesex and East London.

Newborn and Maternity portrait session fees are due on the day of the session and includes 2-3 hours of photography, and all post production of your images as well as an online gallery from which to view your images. The session fee does not include photographs or digital files (link to products) which are purchased separately. Prices include VAT and are valid for three months from the time of booking.

Weekday session £150, Weekend session £200.

Following your viewing you can choose how you wish to enjoy your photographs from a range of carefully sourced hand crafted products  including wall pieces, portrait books and portrait boxes. Smaller add on items such as prints and digital files are also available.

Good things come together and I have bundled some of the most popular choices for wall art with all of the edited digital files from your session with an extra saving for you, get in touch for more details.

When should our session take place?
If you would like really tiny newborn baby images, then between day 4 and 10 are best (especially days 4-7) as at this stage babies are usually still quite sleepy and fine to be moved around without being too bothered. They are also amazingly small and that does not last long! I also photograph new babies who are older when the baby is more alert and more awake.

When should we book?
If you would like to book a session, get in touch a few months before you are due and let me know your due date. I will put you in my diary as a provisional booking at that stage. As you get closer to full term, keep me informed as to how things are progressing. Please ensure your partner has my contact details and remembers to e-mail or text me once your baby is born and a day or so later I will get in touch to see how you are feeling and put a date in the diary.

Where do we do the session?
At your home – you just need to roll out of bed.

Please tell me I wont’t have to tidy up!
You wont’t – hurrah! If I need to move anything around on the day to help us make the most of the available  light, I will.

Can we include grandparents?

Yes of course, if you have family staying with you or visiting, I will be delighted to include them in the session.

Do you do composite images?
I specialise in natural light photography with a nod to fine art and documentary styles. I don’t do composites (where you layer multiple images to make one single image of, for example, a tiny newborn baby balancing their chin on their hands). I am aiming to capture your experience of getting to know your new baby and introducing them to the world in a quite simple and truthful way. My images often have a timeless quality so I tend to avoid fashions for doing things like putting babies in suitcases and placing them in poses they would not naturally rest in.

Do you photograph in black and white or colour?
I do a mixture and love both.

How many images should we expect to view?
I usually present clients with about 50- 60 images from each session.

I adore taking children’s portraits and capturing family life and love the opportunity to help families really celebrate the moment. During a session you may find me lying on the ground, halfway up a tree or having a silly voice competition with your little ones. My family are often amused at how dishevelled I can look after a morning’s shoot in a park! Entering your children’s world is the easiest and most fun way to help them relax around me and allow me to capture truly natural photographs of them at play and at ease.

Where is the best place for our session?
Your local park or gardens are often a good choice, or a city walk which can have loads of visual variety. I can also split sessions between your home and a favourite location, however If your first child is less than six months old I recommend doing all of your session at your home. Good photographic light can be found in surprising places and I love seeking out the best light to make the most of where we are on the day!

Do you photograph in black and white or colour?

I do a mixture and love both for different reasons. Often when I am shooting I know whether I want a particular image to be in colour or monochrome. If you have a really strong preference for either please do chat to me beforehand as I want to make sure you get what you want from our session.

What if it rains?

Wellies, brollies and jumping in muddy puddles are a delight for most children and a wonderful opportunity to capture spontaneous moments. A childhood spent mostly in the West of Ireland had rendered me quite rain-hardy! However if we have planned a fully outdoor session and the weather looks to be truly awful on the day, we can either change our location or re-schedule. A day or so before our session I will be in contact if inclement weather is likely. How many images should we expect to view?

How would you describe your style?
During weddings I photograph mostly in a mixture of creative portraiture and documentary style capturing events as they naturally unfold with a particular eye for interactions between people. My fine art background always informs how I shoot, so throughout the day I look to capture elements that make your day and experience personal and compelling.

Do you cover the whole day?
Most couples book me for about eight hours of photography on their day and I generally start with the bride as she is getting ready and stay until a few songs after the first dance.  You also have an option to add on extra time.

Do you do family group photographs?

Yes, we can discuss this before the day to clarify who you would like included.

We are not used to having our photograph taken and are feeling a little nervous …
Don’t worry, most people feel just the same. I will help you to feel relaxed in front of the camera and you can relax in the knowledge that I am always aiming to capture you looking fantastic and to celebrate the amazing moments that will make up your day.

Tell me about engagement shoots?

I offer weekday engagement shoots in the London area.   These can be a great fun as well as being a great way to help you both get used to being photographed together in advance of your wedding.  The cost is £200 and includes 10 high res. digital files.

Do you photograph in black and white or colour?
I do a mixture and love both.  They work really well together in my wedding albums.

How many images will we get?
I usually present clients with between 400-600 images from their wedding day.

What is your schedule of payment?
The booking fee is payable straight away and as soon as I have received it your day is reserved for you. The balance is payable 28 days before the wedding. All prices are inclusive of VAT and payment by bank transfer or cheque are accepted.

What areas do you cover?
I work mostly in Central London, North London, Hertfordshire, West London, Middlesex and East London. However I also photograph all over the UK as well as covering destination weddings.

Do we meet you before the wedding?
I often like to meet for a drink or coffee in London on a weekday evening before the wedding or have a Skype chat with you both to say hi properly. Seeing you two together in non-wedding mode helps me get more of a feel for your relationship and what makes you tick, which will influence the way I photograph your day. I always aim to make a very personal record of the day for you and connecting with you beforehand helps that happen.

Do you work alone or with an assistant?
I usually work alone but if there are multiple locations involved in your day or over 150 guests I sometimes work with an assistant or second shooter.

A pre-wedding consultation, eight hours of photography on your day, an online gallery for you to view your images and share with family and friends and the high res. print ready digital files from your wedding for your personal use.
Additional time can also be added on and I am always happy to chat about any requirements you may have so do get in touch.

Business portraits / Actors head shots.

I photograph business portraits and actor’s head shots on location in the London area.  A weekday session costs £175 which covers a one and a half to two hour shoot, an online gallery from which to view your images as well as three gently retouched images as both high res. files suitable for print and screen resolution versions.  Additional files can be purchased for £45 each.  I specialise in using natural light and can come to your home or workplace where I photograph you in different rooms / areas to offer you a number of different options for your final images.

Do you retouch images?

The images you will see in your online gallery will have had some post production before you view them.  Once you have selected your final image(s) I refine the image some more, however my retouching is always with a light hand.  I believe passionately that we should look like ourselves in our portraits (just on a really good day!).

Do you photograph in black and white or colour?

I do both.  We will have a chat before the session about how you will use the final images and any styling or sizing requirements you will have (such as Spotlight regulations) and whether black and white and / or colour will work best for your needs.

How many images should we expect to view?

I usually present clients with about 30+  images from each session.

What should I wear?

Simple clothing that does not distract from your face is best, no fussy collars or busy patterns.  Similarly keep jewellery to a minimum.

What about make up?

A little more make up than you would usually wear is often advisable.  Good hair and make up can make a big difference to your final images and if you would like a hair and make up artist on the day I can put you in touch with one.

What areas do you cover?

North London, Central London, West London and East London.

Have a question I haven’t answered or book a session.
