As a destination wedding photographer it was a treat to head to the beautiful hills of Umbria to join London couple Emma and Simon as they celebrated their wedding Italian style – with a little slice of la dolce vita!
They were married in the Town Hall of the ancient town of Todi at the Piazza del Popolo which is considered to be among the most beautiful squares in Italy. It has been used as the set for many period films and it was impossible not to be swept up in the romance of such a beautiful setting. The Town Hall had a wonderful sense of history and gravitas and the Mayor who officiated. Hugs and kisses all round afterwards before walking down into the square (for some more hugs and kisses!) and meeting the enthusiastic locals. Well timed ice cream was next and a quick shower kept us on our toes! Then it was off for some serious celebrations at Tenuta di Canonica. This ancient watchtower has been transformed into the most gorgeous hotel as soon as most of the guests arrived they were already planning their return visit!
One of the things I love about being a destination wedding photographer is getting to see families and scattered friends getting together for a really really good reason! It was such a pleasure to see this family and friends of different generations having a hoot together and marking the start of married life for Emma and Simon in style. We had such a giggle shooting the group photographs especially the girls (any of whom would give Gloria Gaynor a run for her money – they WILL survive), I nearly fell in to the pool they made me laugh so much! Beautiful food, heartfelt speeches and dancing provided the perfect end to a perfect day. These are a few images from the day – enjoy!
