Bogota Wedding, Destination Wedding Photographer

Bogota Wedding, Destination Wedding Photographer

It was a treat to join London couple Sonia and Alex as their Destination Wedding Photographer for their Bogota Wedding.  Bogota provided a stunning backdrop for the wedding celebrations as family and friends gathered and flew in to be there for the big day.  Preparations began in at Santaboda who organised the day. The groom and best man got ready surrounded by the workshop and the bride dressed in their beautiful wedding dress atelier.  The Bride looked stunning in a strapless 3/4 length dress with matching Converse sneakers.  Before leaving for the ceremony and without seeing each other, Sonia and Alex took a quiet minute together and held hands – it was such a sweet moment and charged with emotion. On to a museum in Central Bogota for the outdoor ceremony which was performed by a friend of the family.  We could see the clouds clothing the top of the mountain as the ceremony started and a few yellow umbrellas came out ready for the rain that did not really come in the end.  The design of the couple’s wedding rings was based on coastline and the map reference seemed so apt given the logistics invloved in this wedding. After the ceremony, everyone went through the the beautiful gardens and on to the reception. Once the Bogota Beer Company’s brews were opened the party really started!  Weddings always bring loved ones together from far and wide, but this wedding did that in spades as family and friends from England and Colombia got to know each other.  The speeches were in English and Spanish and it’s amazing how not understanding a language...

Fennes Wedding – London Wedding Photographer

Jemma and Simons wedding at the Fennes was a joyful celebration on a day with a truly autumnal feel.  As a London Wedding photographer I love spending time in the city’s parks but heading off to this beautiful country house wedding really reminded me how majestic the changing of the seasons can be.  The bride started her day gettign ready surrounded by family and friends, with her sisters on hand to help her get dressed.  A short trip from the Fennes in a beautiful vintage Bentley  and and the ceremony could start in the very beautiful Little Easton Church, which dates back to Norman times.  The brides dress looked so dramatic in the church with the train spilling across the hundreds of years old floor.  Though the sun graced the day at intervals, the occasional gust of wind helped remind us what time of year it truly was!  Celebrations continued at the Fennes Manor House in Bocking, where the autumnal theme was brought inside, as well as out.  Beautiful arrangements of pumpkins, leaves and all things rustic were so of the place and moment.  The attention to detail made the occasion even more unique.  The couples’ special bench acted as a very personal signing board for friends and family to write their messages to the happy couple.  Silver birch branches held the names of the guests at each table setting.   Speeches (both on and off screen) brought lots of laughter as well as a few tears before dancing and more dancing.                                    ...

Sarah and Tim’s wedding this summer, was a real London wedding. The bride arrived at the church in a London taxi and looked stunning in a gorgeous beaded dress by Lusan Mandongus.  The ceremony was conducted at All Saints Church in Fulham (which has all of 900 years of history behind it), the church has a lovely combination of high vaulted ceilings as well as wonderful windows that just lets the light pour in. It’s always a pleasure to photograph a ceremony that feels really personal and this was definitely one of those. Afterwards, (not being put off by a short smidgin of rain) a stroll through the gardens of Fulham Palace, provided a little interval in the day.  Fulham palace is one of those london locatons that would easily convince you that the city was a very long way away despite being minutes from the hustle and bustle. Sarah and Mike’s celebrations then continued just across Putney Bridge at the London Rowing Club.  Beautiful  wildflowers with a casual and romantic theme brought the outside and high summer into the London Rowing Club.  When guests had soaked up enough of the views of the river Thames they could enjoy musing over lots of lovely details that celebrated the couples’ shared love of travel.   I just loved their quirky graphic wedding cake with it’s London landmarks as well. Once dancing was underway the bride had a little extra surprise as the groom took the mike for a serenade. Dancing and more dancing ended off a perfect day. Emma and Simon’s Umbrian wedding – Destination wedding photographer

Emma and Simon’s Umbrian wedding – Destination wedding photographer

As a destination wedding photographer it was a treat to head to the beautiful hills of Umbria to join London couple Emma and Simon as they celebrated their wedding Italian style – with a little slice of la dolce vita! They were married in the Town Hall of the ancient town of Todi at the Piazza del Popolo which is considered to be among the most beautiful squares in Italy.  It has been used as the set for many period films and it was impossible not to be swept up in the romance of such a beautiful setting.  The Town Hall had a wonderful sense of history and gravitas and the Mayor who officiated.   Hugs and kisses all round afterwards before walking down into the square (for some more hugs and kisses!) and meeting the enthusiastic locals.   Well timed ice cream was next and a quick shower kept us on our toes! Then it was off for some serious celebrations at Tenuta di Canonica.  This ancient watchtower has been transformed into the most gorgeous hotel as soon as most of the guests arrived they were already planning their return visit! One of the things I love about being a destination wedding photographer is getting to see families and scattered friends getting together for a really really good reason!  It was such a pleasure to see this family and friends of different generations having a hoot together and marking the start of married life for Emma and Simon in style.  We had such a giggle shooting the group photographs especially the girls (any of whom would give Gloria Gaynor...

Thanks to the lovely people at Your London Wedding who put together my add for their current edition.  This is the time of year that many people start to think about organising their summer  wedding and I am really looking forward to shooting for all my brand new brides-to-be in the coming months, both north and south of the river (and further afield).  So many people now want their wedding photographs to tell the story of their day in a natural un-forced way which is more about creating images with soul rather than lining up everyone to say cheese!  A good London wedding photographer will create images that will transport you back to the day, to the emotions and interactions between people and the details of the event that really made made that wedding and that couples own personal celebration unique.  If you are getting married in 2013 please do get in touch – I would love to have a chat about your wedding...
