London newborn baby photography

Beautiful baby Naomi was just 13 days old for her London newborn baby photography session in Hornsey, North London.   A delight to photograph, she snoozed and woke and snoozed again during our session, all with a minimum of fuss.  On the few occasions that she wanted us to know something, her tiny-new-baby cries were so gentle that it reminded me how young she really was.  There was beautifuly soft window light as I photographed her sleeping on her mum and dad’s bed.  She was pefectly content to be snuggled and cuddled and passed from mum to dad while I worked.  As a London baby photographer it is always such a pleasure to photograph new babies and new parents.  Becoming a parent has been such an amazing experience for me and each time I am privileged to be invited into the home of a family that has just welcomed a new member, it brings back all the memories of each of our children in their first few days of life.  These are good memories to hold close and we love to look at the photos of our babies as they were and marvel at how they have grown.  It is a lovely feeling to know that I am making images for other families to do the same in the years to come.  Seeing Naomi again only two weeks later, I noticed that she had already started to learn how to make herself heard in the meantime!  Seeing these tiny people grow so quickly is a lovely perk of the job.  I hope you enjoy the images from this London newborn...
London pregnancy photography in St James’s Park

London pregnancy photography in St James’s Park

Not much more than a year on from shooting their wedding, I found myself in St James’s Park photographing Simon and Shellie again and this time there was not a wellie in sight!  We had decided to do their London pregnancy photography session in St James’s Park and the edges of the park and Horseguards Parade were a great place to start our session but we quickly decided to find somewhere a bit more quiet. Central London is full of contrasts and in the space of five minutes you can go from somewhere with clean modern lines to feeling lost in nature in the middle of a lush city park.  We found a great spot behind a glass sculpture to start, which despite being in a really busy part of the city, felt strangely very private and I love the images we captured there with the sun pouring in from behind the wall of glass.  It was one of those London days when the light changed every five minutes giving such a different feel to the images depending on whether we had clouds giving us soft diffuse light or strong sun warming us up!  Daffodils and daisys sprinkled the park and the trees were bursting into leaf, providing the perfect setting for the rest of our relaxing late afternoon shoot. Morning sickness be dammed (or rather morning, afternoon and evening sickness in this case) and Shellie made me feel like I need to get back in my swimming groove as she was regularly putting in 1.5k at her local pool, which was why at the end of our session...
What a difference a day makes!

What a difference a day makes!

What a difference a day makes…  A world of difference for this third time Mum-to-be, who gave birth to beautiful baby Elwood less than 24 hours after her maternity photography session!  Worries about snow getting in the way of a prospective dash to the hospital were a hot topic when we did the shoot.  The bag was packed and the nursery was being painted and so it was lovely to take some time to pause and draw breath, marvelling at how another stage in this families’ life was about to start. As it turned out the snow had yet to arrive in London when baby Elwood decided to make his appearance but it was falling thick and fast when he was having his first official photoshoot.  It always amazes me how tiny new babies can just  transport you into that warm fuzzy place where you realise that so many of the things we spend time fussing and worrying about, really don’t matter at all.  Elwood was just three days old in his newborn photographs, happy just to feed, sleep and be adored.  When I got the news that he had arrived so soon after our maternity photoshoot, I thought it would be fun to take one image of him in his Mum’s arms right where I had photographed her a few days earlier.  I absolutely loved shooting these maternity and newborn photographs, they make me smile and probably will for a long time –...

Newborn baby photographs in Muswell Hill

I had the privilege of photographing baby Jessica in her home last week when she was only five days old.   The arrival of a new baby is always such a milestone for any family and Jessica’s family are clearly thrilled with their new baby girl.  Her big sister was relishing her new job as elder sibling and I can tell how much fun they are going to have playing together.  I always enjoy photographs that show the contrast in size between a really tiny new person and all the people who want to cuddle and kiss them!  Here are a few shots from our session – I hope you enjoy...
